The Cyprus Silk Festival will be held for the 4th time this year on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May
2009.  The festival has been running for 3 years with the efforts of the Green
Action Group and is this year being held with the support of the Girne ( Kyrenia )
Municipality.
This festival has now become a traditional event in the festivals calendar. Reasons for this include the fact that a very rich traditional handicraft , which is part of
the culture of north cyprus is being  re-introduced after years of neglect. It also provides a platform for social togetherness in the area, and for  Girne, a tourist
town, it provides an opportunity for everyone to experience new products and take part in different activities.
It is a great responsibility and an honour for us that we have been able to provide
a platform in our country for our people to exhibit the products of their hard work
and skill which they have combined with their artistic talents. All of which are of
great interest especially  to foreigners and tourists.
